Abstract
"This paper describes a method to optimize the refueling schedule of the nuclear units. The method finds a mid-range (five to ten years) optimum refueling schedule by varying the refueling date of the nuclear units. The cycles of the nuclear units are the variable parameters, with fuel enrichment and quantity being fixed.
An empirical technique is used to calculate the nuclear fuel cost. Seasonal constraints are taken into account, and no nuclear unit will be shut down while another is down"-- Abstract, p. ii
