Abstract
"The dynamics of passive dampers applied to high s peed gyro systems is reviewed briefly and the partially filled viscous ring nutation damper is investigated. Particular attention is given to 1 the broken ring or nutation synchronous configuration where the fluid moves as a rigid slug and the damping is greatest. In this mode the damping is assumed to be viscous and expressions for a linear damping constant are presented. Data from an experimental, high-speed gyro is used to verify the theoretical analysis"-- Abstract, p. 1
