Abstract
"Monocalcium aluminate was prepared by sol-gel processing and the Pechini method. Orthorhombic CaO•Al2O3 (CA) was prepared at 900°C by the Pechini method without any intermediate phase formation while the orthorhombic CA phase crystallized with multiple phases when gel powders were calcined at 1000°C. At 1300°C was detected only single phase monoclinic CA by both of the methods. Structural evolution and decomposition of the precursors were investigated with X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectra analysis, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis"--Abstract, page ii.
