Integrated Manufacturing System for Precision Punches and Dies
Abstract
This paper describes the development and implementation details of an integrated design and manufacturing system at a local company specializing in precision sheet metal tooling. The system consists of three major modules namely, GT coding module, process planning module, and NC part program module. Based on customer orders, the designer can create the part model, automatically generate the GT code, process plans, and NC part programs, using the proposed system. The prototype system has been implemented on a Pentium PC using AutoCAD platform and Autolisp programming language.
