Modeling the Global Earth Observation System of Systems
Abstract
Understanding the operations of a large net-centric system-of-systems requires in-depth knowledge of the interfaces among the various systems, sub-systems and components. Architectural modeling can help in reducing the complexity involved in designing large networked systems. This paper demonstrates a modeling approach for network centric systems. Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) is an example of an evolving complex network centric system. The modeling of the GEOSS has been demonstrated using the DoDAF architectural framework in this paper. An introduction to Systems Modeling Language, which can be used to realize the model from an end users' perspective is also presented.
