Inspection Sampling
Abstract
Variation exists in all processes, which can lead to defects in incoming material. Further, as product complexity of multicomponent products continue to increase, it is becoming more difficult to control quality throughout the supply chain. Inspection sampling is commonly used in automotive, aerospace, and electronic industries, among many others, as a method to reduce the probability of defective products from entering the supply chain. Selecting the appropriate inspection scheme requires balancing risk, resources, and cost for optimal quality. As such, the topics of sampling schemes, process control, economically based sampling, and inspection errors are explored and discussed.
