Corporate Knowledge Capture and Reuse using Software Agents
Abstract
Current industrial practices require product failures to be recorded and stored in corporate databases. While this information is often available in the form of verbose descriptive reports, it cannot be recalled easily by engineers for computational analysis and failure prevention in its current form. Therefore, a system that enabled vital failure information to be gathered from corporate databases and analyzed would assist with the prevention of product failures. in this paper we discuss the use of software agents to extract vital failure prevention information. the data collected is analyzed with the Risk in Early Design (RED) method for failure prevention.
