Abstract

The research design for this initial exploratory study was to determine how the research effort of the UMR doctoral faculty is conducted and managed. The focus for the first phase concentrated in the management of Ph.D. students. Results of the study suggest that UMR faculty advising Ph.D. student research including Engineering Management doctoral faculty, do not differ considerably in their student selection process, advising techniques, and advising philosophy.
