RFID on the Manufacturing Shop Floor: Applications and Challenges
Abstract
This paper presents an overview on potential RFID (radio frequency identification) applications on the manufacturing shop floor. the overall architecture of the University of Missouri-Rolla's (UMR) Auto-ID Testbed, which includes various applications that are built on hardware-in-the-loop simulation models and industry-grade equipment, is discussed. in order to highlight RFID-related critical aspects, an RFID data-Based inventory management model and a dock-door application are presented.
