Architectural overview of a System for the Storage and Management of Television Programs
Abstract
Television programs (both broadcast and cable) have predetermined starting times and durations. This may not match the schedule of most people who would like to watch the programs of their interest at times convenient to them. To alleviate this rigid situation, this paper proposes the architecture of a system for the online storage of user selected TV programs and their subsequent management which enables users to edit, view, exchange, annotate and archive the stored TV programs suited to their convenience, taste, and format. This paper also briefly discusses the implementation issues. The proposed system is expected to have tremendous impacts on the consumption and dissemination of information in many diverse areas such as personal entertainment, journalism, education, commerce, and several others.
