Computer Simulation of Electrostatic Discharge
Abstract
An algorithm for predicting electrostatic-discharge (ESD) dynamics is designed within the context of a time-domain moment method. It is used to run a computer simulation of electromagnetic processes associated with the ESD of a perfectly conducting prolate spheroid located near a grounded perfectly conducting plane. ESD currents and fields in the near- and far-field zones are computed. They are found to be consistent with the results of previous experiments. A physical analysis is given for the dependence of the transient emission on individual model parameters.
