Design of a Tapered Slot-Line Antenna for Wideband SAR Imaging
Abstract
In this paper we introduce a tapered slot-line antenna designed specifically for microwave imaging applications. This antenna may be arranged in an array and integrated into a grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW)-based microwave circuit forming a compact and field-portable linear imaging array fabricated on one printed circuit board. The designed antenna operates over the frequency range of ~22-27 GHz for producing high-resolution 3D synthetic aperture radar (SAR)-based images. This antenna also provides for an easy incorporation of (Schottkey diode) mixers at its aperture for generating SAR images, as demonstrated with the simulations for imaging a point target.
