Residential Demand For Wood Fuel. A Missing Data Problem
Abstract
Modelling the demand for wood presents several difficult problems not present in the highly developed literature on the demand for electricity. This paper develops a method for dealing with missing price data. Simple statistical tests are performed in a systematic fashion leading to the suggestion that the wood fuel market is characterized by block pricing structures that vary by region. When these block prices are used in modelling the demand for wood fuel, the price elasticities drop off sharply in comparison with the same model using the same data, except for price. © 1987.
