Smoke Detector Effectiveness And The Value Of Saving A Life
Abstract
Engineering estimates of home smoke detector effectiveness are around 50 percent. An economic model finds an effectiveness estimate of about 9 percent. Based on this result, the value of life saving from smoke detector purchases is increased fivefold. © 1989.
