Study on Structural Control of Hybrid Energy Dissipation
Abstract
The hybrid energy dissipation system consisted of tuned liquid damper (TLD) and viscous fluid damper (VFD) is suggested to control the seismic response of structures for counteracting the deficiency of TLD in controlling the seismic response of the structures at the beginning of the seismic excitation. By the numerical analysis for the seismic response of a steel frame structure with energy dissipation system, the efficiency of reducing vibration is compared between energy dissipation system only with TLD and those with hybrid TLD/VFD. The effect of VFD on the combination energy dissipation system is studied.
