Tests Rate How Curtainwalls Perform under Earthquake Conditions
Abstract
A pilot study was conducted at the University of Missouri-Rolla to investigate the structural behavior of various types of architectural glass elements in a common, dry-glazed curtainwall system under various sets of controlled dynamic motions that simulate earthquake events. This is aimed at coming up with glass curtainwall systems that could withstand mild earthquakes and improving safety near high-rises in crowded metropolitan areas during a major earthquake.
