Dynamic Soil Structure Interaction for Bridge Abutments on Piles
Abstract
In order to ensure satisfactory performance of bridge abutments in seismically active regions, the dynamic soil-structure interaction must be considered. An analytical model has been proposed for computing the response of gravity type bridge abutments during real earthquake based on the longitudinal sliding vibrations and in plane rotational displacements. A detailed discussion on the selection of appropriate springs, and radiation and material damping constants has been included.
