Adsorption Of Whey Protein On Grafted 2-Vinylpyridine/Polypropylene Copolymer Surface
Abstract
The adsorption of whey protein on polypropylene grafted by 2-vinyl-pyridine was studied. The relationship between the amount of protein adsorbed and the equilibrium concentration–the adsorption isotherm—was approximately linear. Under optimum binding conditions, at the lowest concentrations. the percentage of whey protein removed was ∼45. The adsorption efficiency was enhanced by increase of the charge density of polypropylene. © 1983, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
