1.4 Nm Tobermorite-like Calcium Silicate Hydrate Prepared at Room Temperature from Si(OH)₄ and CaCl₂ Solutions
Abstract
Calcium silicate hydrate prepared at room temperature is known to be an amorphous or a very poorly crystalline material. It has a high surface area and may be a promising new microporous material similar to gyrolites. This letter reports the synthesis and characterization of the 1.4 nm tobermorite like calcium silicate hydrate prepared by the room temperature titration of NaOH to a mixture of monomeric silicic adid and calcium chloride solutions as the starting materials.
