Funnel-like Flow Generated Electrochemically in Paramagnetic Media by the Two Paramagnetic Body Forces
Abstract
We describe a new type of convection in paramagnetic media generated with ferromagnetic electrodes in magnetic fields perpendicular to the electrode surface. That convection mechanism is attributed solely to the paramagnetic body forces F[del]B and F[del]C and all experimental evidence indicates that the presence of both is important. Based on the direction of the two forces, it is speculated that the solution follows a funnel-like low pattern whereas fresh solution is taken in from the edges of a disk electrode and is expelled out from the center.
