Decay of Rb⁸⁶ by Electron Capture

Abstract

The decay of Rb⁸⁶ by electron capture was determined by measuring the abundance of Kr⁸⁶ produced in a pile-irradiated rubidium salt. A branching ratio of E.C.-=(5.24 ± 0.52)×10^-5 for Rb⁸⁶ was obtained by comparing the excess Kr⁸⁶ with excess Kr⁸⁰ from the internal bromine monitor and with the Rb⁸⁶ activity.
