Abstract

Various β-hydroxyl sulfones are prepared by regioselective ring opening of epoxides with sodium salt of sulfinate on water. This is an efficient protocol which avoids hazardous and moisture sensitive catalysts. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
