Thermal Analysis Of A Poly(amic Acid)-polyimide System
Abstract
The thermal cyclization of a poly(amic acid) powder to polyimide and the thermal decomposition of the polyimide have been studied using thermal analysis. Activation energies for the thermal cyclization and decomposition are reported in both oxidative and non-oxidative atmospheres. Compositions of the pyrolysis residue consistent with previously postulated decomposition mechanisms are reported. © 1972.
