Phase Equilibria in Water, Pentanol, Tetradecyltrialkylammonium Bromide Systems
Abstract
Three tetradecyltrialkylammonium bromides (trimethyl, triethyl and tripropyl) were combined with water and pentanol and the phase regions determined. Increasing the chain-length of the trialkyl part gave a pronounced reduction of the regions for liquid-crystalline phases, especially the lamellar variety, but gave only insignificant distinction of the geometric characteristics once the liquid-crystalline phase was formed. © 1985.
