Abstract

"The present investigation was undertaken with a view to consider the variables which tend to cause inaccuracy in the above mentioned measurements and as preliminary to a further study of the subject by the Missouri Bureau of Geology and Mines. The subject is one which, judging from the work of others and from my own experience, will require much more experimentation before results are obtained which are sufficiently reliable for the use of the economic geologist"--Introduction, page 3-4.
