Abstract
Linear B sign 75 is evidently of unknown origin, both with respect to its intended portrayal and a rationale for its pronunciation /we/. And yet, like several other signs of Linear B, I believe this one too derives from ancient Egyptian, viz., the mythological cobra figure poised to spit fire to protect the god/goddess or sovereign on whose crown or headdress the cobra stands guard.
