Abstract
The nonlinear intersubband (ISB) response of conduction electrons in quantum well were investigated. the coherent control of ISB optical biostability was analyzed using terahertz (THz) control pulses to induce picosecond switching between the bistable states. the switching speed was also determined by the ISB relaxation and decoherence times, T 1 and T 2. the results show that the shortest down-switching times of 50-6- ps are achieved by control pulses with intensity not far from the driving field, 30 W/cm 2.
