Alternative Title

On the permanent growth of gray iron

Abstract

"After making a survey of the available information on the subject of permanent growth in grey iron castings, it was found that very little definite information is available and such as is available does not seem to satisfy all conditions. As is perhaps generally known, grey iron castings withstand a growth in volume upon repeated heating and cooling, which growth is a permanent deformation and is not a function of the temperature co-efficient"--Review of Published Work, page 3.
