Description
This guide describes a repeatable workflow for converting existing course materials into clean, Canvas-compatible HTML using artificial intelligence (AI).
While plain text can often be copied directly into Canvas, mathematical notation frequently requires additional time-consuming formatting. This workflow uses AI to convert images of course materials into semantic HTML designed to support accessibility while preserving mathematical expressions as Canvas-compatible equation images generated from LaTeX. The resulting HTML is then reviewed in Canvas, refined as needed, and compared to the original source material through an iterative review process.
This workflow is appropriate for converting a variety of instructional materials, including:
• Microsoft Word documents
• PDF documents
• Scanned pages
