Abstract:
Because of the critical need to enhance safety and efficiency in hazardous mining environments, the Intelligent Robot Assistance in Mining (IRAM) has been developed as a cutting-edge robotics solution. Engineered for deployment in deep mines, high-temperature zones, and areas with toxic or explosive gases, IRAM will assist and collaborate with human workers while minimizing exposure to dangerous conditions by enhancing human-robot interaction capabilities.
Built on inherent safety and technological expandability, IRAM incorporates lightweight components, controlled autonomy, and low-power operation to ensure safe functionality. Its modular design allows for seamless integration of sensors, actuators, and processors, making it adaptable to various operational needs.
IRAM will undergo rigorous testing at S&T’s Mine to assess its autonomy, data processing, communication robustness, and overall safety performance. Additionally, safety-performance trade-offs will be analyzed to ensure that IRAM not only enhances operational efficiency but also maintains the highest safety standards.
