Abstract

"The experimental investigation was conducted to determine temperature distribution and convective heat transfer coefficients in terms of Nusselt number for an inclined heated flat plate in air. The heated surface of the aluminum flat plate was set facing upward and moved through seven positions from the vertical to the horizontal. The investigation shows that the local Nusselt number can be predicted by Kiekus's solution within 12 per cent for inclination angles from the vertical through 75° from the vertical. In the case of the vertical position, Eckert's solution gives a better prediction. For the horizontal position the results show good agreement with the equation which is recommended by McAdams, with 8 per cent--Abstract, Page ii.
