Abstract

“This study is the report of an investigation to: Determine the engineering characteristics of Dent County, Missouri soils using a pedologic soil association map for areal extrapolation of soil test data; and, Evaluate the feasibility of determining the engineering characteristics of all Ozark Region soils by the same method.

During the course of the study, the geology and pedology of the county was investigated and a sampling and testing program formulated. Pedologic soil types in each soil association area were sampled, tested in the laboratory, and the results interpreted.

The results obtained showed that the engineering characteristics of the soil types grouped in each soil association in Dent County fall within a narrow definite range, and that it is feasible to make an engineering evaluation of Ozark Region soils by evaluating similar pedologic soil types grouped into soil association areas”--Abstract, page ii.
