Abstract
"The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effectiveness of a lubri-coolant directed in such a way that it impinged just below the chip at the tool-chip interface in an orthogonal cutting process. This was compared to the conventional method of flooding lubri-coolant around the tool-chip area ... The results obtained show that the forces required to cut a material were less if the lubri-coolant was directed on the tool-chip interface when larger values of feed and depth of cut were used, and that with smaller values of feed and depth of cut, the method of flooding was equal or superior"--Abstract, page ii.
