Collaborative solid modeling using Java3D

Abstract

"Collaboration involving designers in different disciplines is an increasingly crucial aspect in complex design situations, as exemplified in the architecture, engineering or design domain. CAD (Computer-Aided Design) systems are necessary for handling this complexity. However current CAD modeling technology is directed towards the production of a single product model. The aim of this research is to develop web-based collaborative CAD application. A distributed collaborative package is proposed as a feature for distributed CAD permitting teams to work cooperatively, accessing and exchanging information at run time in a distributed design environment"--Abstract, page iii.
