Valuation of a Senior Companion Program for the Aged: Theory, Design and Results
Abstract
The determination of the value of non-market, public or collective goods has become important recently as a result of extensive government regulation of private enterprises with a corresponding increasing cost burden and calls for reduced waste in the public sector. With increasing frequency, the worthiness of public programs is being questioned. Therefore, the accurate specification of the value of non-market commodities is essential if these goods are to be allocated efficiently among alternative uses.
