Nurse Leaders and Financial Literacy: Learning to Become CFO of Me
Abstract
The increasing need for a well-prepared nursing workforce is indisputable, and the reliable income and steady employment of a nursing career are highly attractive. Augmenting nurses' business acumen and security through universal mastery of financial literacy – including the knowledge and skills of debt, investments, and budgeting – are essential in accessing health care, alleviating poverty, and eliminating inequality. This column explores financial literacy as a subset of health literacy, empowering nurse leaders to positively impact patients, families, communities, and nurses themselves.
