Free Nonlinear Vibrations of Statically Loaded Long Cylindrical Shells

Abstract

Large-amplitude global free vibration of a long cylindrical shell resting on an elastic foundations is considered. The shell is initially loaded by uniform static transverse forces. Both the static deflections of the shell and the nonlinear vibrations superimposed on static equilibrium are considered using nonlinear theory. Numerical analysis elucidates the effect of different parameters on vibrations. © 1988 Birkhäuser Verlag Basel.
