Generalized Rigid Sets, Contractibility of Hyperspaces, and Coselections

Abstract

We generalize the notion of R^i subsets, and we show that containing such sets, called generalized rigid sets, implies noncontractibility of the hyperspaces. We also discuss existence of coselections into the hyperspace of subcontinua.
