Maps of Absolute Retracts for Tree-like Continua

Abstract

It is shown that the class AR(TL) of absolute retracts for tree-like continua is invariant with respect to monotone maps. From the pastresults it follows that the inverse limit of trees with con uent bonding mapsis an absolute retract for tree-like (and more generally, hereditarily unico-herent) continua. In this paper we provide the rst example of a member ofAR(TL) that is not such a limit.
