Masters Theses

Characterizing superconducting magnetic energy storage systems for grid applications

Keywords and Phrases

Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES)

Abstract

"The development of storage systems can improve system dynamics and help integrate intermittent renewable energy resources into the grid. Additional storage systems such as batteries, superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES), and flywheel energy storage can help improve the reliability of power systems by keeping the system intact during disturbances. This thesis deals with the integration of SMES systems into the grid"--Abstract, page iii.
