Abstract

This paper gives a series of case histories of earth dams which have been damaged by strong earthquakes in the past 25 years in China. These damages include slides, cracks, settlements leakages and also some appurtenant structure failures. Experiences show it is necessary to stringently control the design and construction to resist earthquakes.
