Abstract

An open-framework cobalt germanate of the formula, [Co₂(NH₂(CH₂)₂NH₂) ₃][Ge₉O₁₈(OH)₄] has been prepared under solvo/hydrothermal conditions in the presence of ethylenediamine. The germanate is constructed by Ge₉O₁₈ clusters and contains eight- and ten-membered channels. Besides connecting two Co sites, the amine also acts as a. bis-chelating agent and protrudes into the eight-membered channel.
