Types of Materials

Currently, Scholars' Mine holds information on theses and dissertations, journal articles, conference proceedings, books, and book chapters. Future additions will include white papers, technical reports, patents, data sets, and more.  For more information about this process please click here.

File Formats

 The file formats allowed in Scholars' Mine are only those that are of an "open" nature where their longevity can be ensured.  Currently, the approved file formats are:

• PDF (.pdf)
• Plain Text (.txt)
• Rich Text Format (.rtf)
• HTML (.html)
• JPEG (.jpeg/.jpg)
• TIFF (.tiff/.tif)
• AIFF (.aiff/.aif/.aifc)
• WAV (.wav)
• MPEG (.mpeg/.mpg)
• PS (.ps)
• XML (.xml)

Also, please note that due to security concerns, executable files will not be allowed in the repository (.exe or similar).

Other file formats may be added in the future as their robustness is evaluated for long-term preservation purposes.
